Biographical Notes:
- is a brother of Gloria Cranmer Webster, Curator, U'Mista Cultural Centre, Alert Bay
- is a son of Agnes Hunt Cranmer and Dan Cranmer (Pelnagwela Wakas), deceased chief of the Nimpkish; Dan Cranmer's potlatch was raided by the RCMP in 1921 (subject of the film, "Potlatch: A Strict Law Bids Us Dance" ).
- did wood carving, but not as a career; the quality was adequate; he did not carve any significant pieces. The young men in his age group usually just carved for money, not for any ceremonial use; he was in his 30's when he carved
- spent some time "hanging around" the Arts of the Raven Gallery in Victoria, B.C.; in this way he was somewhat influenced in his work by artists Tony Hunt and John Livingston
- this collection contains 27 of his paintings.
